Food and wine

Experience the Dolce Vita by savoring traditional Italian food and extraordinary wine

If you are curious to discover the local traditions and the typical flavors of our region, come and try excellent premium wines, such as the Cesanese del Piglio. But there are not only wine estates. Many local festivals and parish fairs promotetypical food traditions. Come and  taste the extra virgin olive, alone or with a bruschetta of local bread baked in a wood-fired oven. Try the coppiette and the porchetta, local fine cuts, in spring the little strawberries of Nemi, in summer the peaches of Castel Gandolfo, in fall the grapes of Colonna, all around the year the Pecorino di Picinisco cheese, as well as a big variety of local seasonal vegetables.

In this region even water deserves a special mention. We are talking about the Acqua Fiuggi, famous for its healthy diuretic effects and the power to stimulate the kidney functions.

Discover the simple joy of wineries (“Fraschette”) at the Castelli Romani, by ordering na fojetta  (a jug of wine) or dining in typical restaurants and trattorias, where you will have the chance of tasting traditional courses like handmade pasta, lamb offal with artichokes or the breaded lamb chops, and finishing with almond biscuits and savoring a little glass of ratafia or a sambuca liquor.
